    • Inquest report in Preston Chronicle, Saturday June 4, 1853, states: "It appeared that the deceased was left on the night of 26th ult, by her father and mother, in the boat on the canal, in the company of a brother and sister, aged respectively 7 and 16 years. They retired to rest in the cabin, but on the following morning the poor child was found in the canal, between the boat and the bank. Verdict: Accidental death.
