    • Cause of death recorded as "Natural causes accelerated by drink". A report of the inquest in the Liverpool Mercury on Wednesday, Aug 26 1868, stated: "Richard Moss, 46, master of the flat Sir Roger, fell and died almost instantly in Great Howard St. Evidence showed that the deceased was of intemperate habits, and on Saturday and Sunday was very tipsy. When he left home to go to the Stanley Dock on Monday he was not quite sober."
