    • First Captain of Kennet, the L&L Canal Society's exhibition boat. Built in 1947, restored by British Waterways in 1985 and since 2011 by the Canal Society.
      Birth date given as Nov 24th in 1939 census. According to the Burscough Boatmen book by Robert Cheetham-Houghton, he was Captain of Canal Transport's iron boat Irwell in the 1930s and '40s.
