A verdict of death from misadventure was returned by Mr S Brighouse, the West Lancashire Coroner, st an inquest last night at Ormskirk on Gladys Webster, 6, daughter of Mr Thomas Webster, a bargee employed on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, living at Canal Bank, Jackson's Bridge, Lydiate.
The child died of burns in hospital at Ormskirk. Mrs Webster, who had a fire in her bedroom because she suffered from asthma, went downstairs on Saturday morning just before eight o'clock. Hearing screams, she ran updtairs and found her daughter in flames The child said that she had gone to warm herself at the fire in her mother's room.
Mr Brighouse said that no blame could be attached to anyone.
