70 - 'Mr Abram', boat family from Burscough.

Dave Middlehurst of Chorley (d.middlehurst@btinternet.com), who is researching music and musicians in Lancashire between 1870-1920, enquired about this photograph, which he says came from a boat family from Burscough named Abram. He seeks help in finding out more about the boat and the music.
It shows four men, one in a top hat playing a fiddle (left) and 'Mr Abram' on the right, who may be Thomas Abram b14.5.1903 (on this site).
This photo appears in the 2016 edition of Mike Clarke's 'The Leeds and Liverpool Canal' with a caption reading: 'The Wm Robinson was built around 1900, and the crew of four pose at the top of Bingley Five-rise. The open back to the cabin gave easy access to the engine and boiler, though the main controls were on top of the cabin, as was the lever for lowering the funnel.' He says: 'Tommy Abram was one of the top skippers in the 1950s.'
