  1. 1.  Christopher Pratt was born in 1863 in Hull (son of Thomas Pratt); died on 24 Dec 1938 in Scartho Road, Grimsby.

    Other Events:

    • Occupation: Waterman, dock labourer, marine engineer

    Notes:

Christopher apparently abandoned Elizabeth Fratson soon after their marriage, and set up home in Milford Haven with Madeleine James, who is with him in Hull, in the 1901 census with three children born in Wales, two in Hull, all recorded as Pratt.
Christopher and Elizabeth are absent in the 1891 census and in 1893 she remarries as a widow. Madeleine is in Steynton, near Milford Haven, as wife of John Gibson of Hull, whom she married 14.3.1891.
The three older children were born/baptised as Gibson, the younger ones as Pratt, but no birth or death record has been found for John Gibson. Did Chrisopher use this name as an alias when he married Madeleine bigamously, returning to Hull and reverting to his real name after discovering that his first wife had remarried?

Christopher married Elizabeth Fratson on 17 Jan 1887 in All Saints, Sculcoates, Hull. Elizabeth (daughter of William Fratson and Susannah White) was born about Aug 1861 in Thorne. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Family/Spouse: Madeleine Amelia James. Madeleine (daughter of Abel James and Martha Lawrence) was born on 29 Nov 1868 in St Davids, Pembrokeshire; died on 21 Apr 1905 in Hull Royal Infirmary. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
