    In 1871 census as Ann Stephenson, married (husband absent) b Orrell, with daughters Caroline and Rebecca (surname given as Asquith) and their husband-to-be Robert Hanson.
    In 1881 as Ann Ashcroft, married, b Wigan.

    Couple apparently unmarried when daughter Martha was born. Henry was single when he married Catherine Bradshaw in 1857, but is named as Martha's father in her marriage to Thomas Spencer..
