  1. 1.  James Cheetham was born in 1787 in Halsall; died in 1845 in Halsall; was buried on 22 Mar 1845 in St Cuthbert, Halsall.

    Other Events:

    • Occupation: Boatman

    Notes:

Great-great-grandfather of Robert Cheetham-Houghton, whose book Burscough Boatmen gives his birth year as 1794, but this would have him aged just 16 when he married. Age given as 50 in the 1841 census, and 58 in 1845 death record on Lancs BMD.
Possibly baptised 30.5.1787 St Mary, West Derby, born 24.4.1787 to Henry and Margaret (E&W Christening Index, Ancestry; Lancashire Baptisms, FindMyPast).
Corresponding burial record at Halsall on Lancs OPC (clearly written in the register) is for a John Cheetham, with a note saying: "Age originally written as 48 yrs, then corrected"; there is no other record of a John Cheetham dying then, so this is assumed to be James.

James married Sarah Bramwell on 1 Jul 1810 in St Peter, Liverpool. Sarah was born in 1792 in Halsall; died in 1841 in Halsall; was buried on 9 Jan 1841 in St Cuthbert, Halsall. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
