    Two possible baptisms on Lancs OPC at Ebenezer Particular Baptist Chapel, Bacup: 25 10 1804 (b 22 9 Top of Bank) to John and Betty; or 14 9 1806 (b 11 8 Broadclough, Rochdale) to John and Matty.
    Age unclear in 1851 census, given as 48 (widower) in 1853 marriage record. First marriage not identified - possibly 18 9 1837 to Nancy Goodall (widow nee Johnson) in Manchester, where son William born in 1845.
    Daughters with Mary Goodall born before they married (Ann's BC confirms mother as Mary Goodall).
    Absent in 1861 census, when Mary listed as canal labourer's wife.
