    Notes:

The Winward family possibly emigrated to the United States in the 1840s. There is a family in the 1850-1870 US censuses in Rhode Island headed by James and Ann Winward, born England, of the right age. James appears to have sailed from Liverpool on the Rochester, arriving on Jan 21 1842, returned for his marriage in Manchester 1844, and re-emigrated with his wife soon after that as their first child was born in Massachusetts the following year. James is a widower in 1900.

James married Ann Baybutt on 22 Sep 1844 in St John, Manchester. Ann (daughter of Fairhurst Baybutt and Margaret Ashcroft) was born in 1817 in Burscough. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
