    Notes:

    'Captain of the Packett' in three children's baptism records.
    Age 33 in burial record, apparently drowned in the Mersey during a storm. Family records quote a Liverpool Mercury report on Jan 21st 1831:- 'Mr John Hart, who was upwards of 9 years captain of one of the packets in the employ of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal Company. His kindness and attention in his situation ensured him the respect of all. He has left a wife and young family to deplore his death.'

    John married Elizabeth Rothwell on 1 Jul 1821 in All Saints, Wigan. Elizabeth (daughter of John Rothwell and Ellen Aspinall) was born in 1801 in Lathom. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
