    • Baptised as Philip but appears in 1891 and 1901 censuses as Thomas Philip. In 1911 an entry for Thomas Philip, 22, single, with parents and siblings in New Lane, Burscough is deleted and marked "mistake", while a separate entry, also in New Lane, is for plain Philip with wife Mary and daughter Mary Alice. Plain Philip in burial record.
      Location in 1939 census: 'Canal boat between Bankhall and Ensor Street'.
      Birth entry on Lancs BMD for Thomas Philip in 1888, Scarisbrick, oddly gives mother's maiden name as Thompson while those for siblings given as Yates.
