More than two pages on him in 'The Sailing Ships and Mariners of Knottingley by Ron Gosney and Rosemary Bowyer who record him as founder of C Rowbotham and Sons 'who had a fleet of coastal steamships and tankers operating out of London'. They conclude: 'From his humble beginnings this son of a Knottingley boat hauler had developed a successful oil tanker company: a truly remarkable achievement.'
Christopher married Ann Andrews about Aug 1871 in Goole. Ann (daughter of William Andrews and Elizabeth Constantine) was born in 1851 in Selby; died on 7 May 1927 in Lee, Lewisham. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
