Baptised with twin Annie, parents named as Joseph and Elizabeth Wray, but GRO birth registration gives mother's maiden name as Whitaker rather than Mann. Richard, age 4, is in the 1881 census as grandson of Mary M(atilda) Mann, his father's mother-in-law whose husband Richard Mann is in several records as Whitaker (his mother's married name) - including the 1891 census when Richard Wray, age 15, is listed as his grandson.

Richard married Mary Elizabeth Garnett on 2 Jul 1899 in St John the Baptist, Newington, Hull. Mary (daughter of Henry Garnett and Arabella Fowler) was born in 1880 in Goole. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
